Peter's Reliant Scimitar GTE (SE6)
Built by British car manufacturer Reliant from 1964, the Scimitar began its life as a coupe and was developed into a sports estate (GTE). Each version was made of fibreglass and came with a Ford engine.
Peter's car is a 1976 SE6, which followed on from the slightly smaller SE5. It sports a 3 litre, Ford Essex V6 engine, producing 135 bhp. Gearbox is a 4-speed manual, with overdrive. This was the engine that was used in some versions of the Ford Capri and Ford Granada. Known for its performance, it was also used by manufacturers such as Gilbern, Marcos and TVR. There were 543 SE6s produced, before being superseded by the SE6A in 1976.
Peter says that, according to the book, the SE6 has a top speed of 120mph and a 0-60mph time of nine seconds.
Prior to Peter's ownership, the body had been off the car for respray and the chassis had been painted. However, the interior was in a poor state at the time of purchase. This has since been rectified.
